Holiday Club

At Wallace Fields Infant School & Nursery we are extremely excited and proud to launch our very own brand new, school run holiday childcare provision called… Dragonflies Holiday Club! Our exciting new venture will launch this December and run for 3 days from Monday 20th December to Wednesday 22nd December 2021 and will then continue for all future school holiday periods.

As many of you already know, here at Wallace Fields Infant School & Nursery we have been successfully providing a private, school run nursery and wrap-around childcare provision for over 15 years which to date has been provided by an external company. However in view of the in house expertise that we have in KidsQuest we now believe the time is right to launch our very own holiday club provision allowing our school parents the option of booking their child/ren into a high quality provision operated by well-respected and experienced members of the school team.

Dragonflies Holiday Club will be a multi activity day camp operating from Wallace Fields Infant School & Nursery and managed by members of the school Senior Leadership Team with some familiar faces from our KidsQuest team leading the camp on a day to day basis! We have the facility to welcome our 4 year old Big Stars children through to our Year 2 children. Additionally we will also be accepting children attending Wallace Fields Junior School up to and including Year 6 pupils. Whilst our focus is on the children having lots of fun and making new memories, there will be an educational slant to some of the activities we have on offer!

The Dragonflies team, managed on a daily basis by Mrs Golding our experienced KidsQuest Manager, are ready to give your child the opportunity to let loose and have some fun with current friends or new ones at our fun and creative multi-activity holiday camp! Our sessions are divided into age related 'fun stations' and your child will have the opportunity to take part in many different types of exciting activities throughout the day. As Wallace Fields Infant School & Nursery staff lead our camp you can be rest assured that you can leave them with us, safe in the knowledge that they will be looked after and cared for in a friendly and familiar school environment.

Please see below for a handy list of Frequently Asked Questions. We look forward to welcoming your child/ren to Dragonflies Holiday Club soon!

What age groups do you cater for at Dragonflies Holiday Club?

We have places available for Wallace Fields Infant School pupils currently in Big Stars, (aged 4) up to those in Year 6 (rising 11s) attending Wallace Fields Junior School.

What will my child be participating during the day at Dragonflies Holiday Club?

We offer a huge variety of activities from sports to arts and crafts, as well as an ‘end of week celebration’ all run by specialist educational support staff and led by Mrs Golding, our KidsQuest before and after school care manager. Although we keep the children busy, we also recognise that the children need to have an opportunity to take some time to relax and there will be a relaxing ‘fun station’ available daily. All of our fun stations are child centred and age appropriate.

What happens at drop off and collection times at Dragonflies Holiday Club?

A member of the Dragonflies Holiday Club staff will be stationed at the welcome desk located in the school hall at opening and closing times and will allow parents and carers access to the building via the automated buzzer at the pedestrian gate. We operate a strict and secure drop off & collection system and all children will need to be signed in and out by a parent or carer. If you have booked a standard day, you are able to drop off at 9.00am and collect at 4.00pm. Bookings with AM extensions allow you to drop off any time between 8.00 and 9.00 and a PM extension allows you to pick up any time between 4.00 and 5.00pm.

What if my child requires medication during the day or has any other special requirements that staff should be aware of at Dragonflies Holiday Club?

For WFJS children you will have the opportunity to advise us of any medication or other requirements via the digital form. If your child may require emergency medication (e.g. EpiPens) whilst they are with us, you will have the opportunity to advise us during the online booking process of this requirement and we would ask you to bring the medication to the club on every occasion your child attends and to hand it to the duty manager. If your child is booked in for longer than 1 day then we are able to store this for you. Please note, if your child carries an EpiPen, you will need to provide Dragonflies Holiday Club with an in-date EpiPen. We reserve the right to refuse admission if an expired EpiPen is supplied, or if the supplied Epipen is not in full working order (e.g. cloudy or discoloured liquid). EpiPens must be in-date, in their original packaging and be prescribed to your child. It is the parents responsibility to collect the EpiPens from the holiday club at the end of each holiday period

For WFIS & Big Stars children, Dragonflies staff will have full access to Treatment Plans and medication held on site and this will be shared with the Dragonflies Team at the beginning of each holiday club period and returned to the child’s classroom at the end of the club.

Dragonflies Holiday Club staff are only able to accept and administer prescribed medication. If your child is likely to require newly prescribed medication of any sort throughout the day, please inform the duty manager on arrival, who will ask you to complete the necessary paperwork. All medication should be handed to the duty manager and must be in its original packaging, with the prescription label.

What should my child wear at Dragonflies Holiday Club?

We make full use of our indoor and outdoor facilities and would kindly ask you to make sure everything you send in is weather appropriate and also that they are clearly named so we can return it to you!

Children should wear clothing and footwear suitable for running around in. We can get messy so please don't send them in their best clothes.

In the summer months, children should bring a hat and wear an all-day sun cream. Staff are not allowed to apply sun cream so please send them with a roll on if you think they will need a top up (less spillages!). We try to get the children outside whatever the weather, so in winter a warm coat is needed and in the summer months a lightweight raincoat.

Will my child need to bring in a packed lunch when they attend Dragonflies?

Yes please! At the current time Dragonflies are unable to offer lunch so ALL CHILDREN WILL REQUIRE A NUT FREE PACKED LUNCH during their day with us.
This should be brought in with your child in a suitable container with a mid-morning/afternoon fruit snack and a large water bottle. We have plenty of places to top this up! Children attending early drop off will be offered a light breakfast snack up to 8:30am and this will be included within the fee but please do send extra fruit snacks if they are attending the later session from 4pm-5pm as they are often very hungry again by then!

What if my child is unwell or I cancel – will I receive a refund?

Unfortunately we cannot provide refunds as staffing is organised in advance according to pre-booked numbers.

How do I book and pay for sessions for my child to attend Dragonflies Holiday Club?

At the current time sessions are available to book by emailing our Dragonflies Holiday Club team at dragonflies@wfis.sfet.org.uk at any time. Within 48 hours of receiving your email a link to the booking form will be sent to you with full details of how to pay (via Scopay - the same system as current KidsQuest and Nursery payments). Booked places will then be confirmed with a member of the team.

Session rates are:
Standard Day 9am-4pm £33
Early morning & Standard Day 8.00am-4pm £35
Standard Day and late pickup 9.00am-5pm £36
Full extended day 8.00 am-5pm £38

Full week prices attract a 10% discount on the above.

Can I pay with Childcare Vouchers?

Being fully Ofsted registered, we can accept all types of childcare voucher as full or part payment towards your bookings. Please speak to your employer to find out which childcare voucher company they are registered with.

Most childcare voucher companies allow you to transfer voucher payments to us through their online portals. We recommend this as the easiest way to make your voucher payments. Please contact our Dragonflies Holiday Club team at dragonflies@wfis.sfet.org.uk for further details.
