The PTA at Wallace Fields Infant School & Nursery aims to fulfill two main roles. Firstly, and ever more importantly, to raise funds to enhance the education of the children here at WFIS, Rockets and Shining Stars – whether that be by purchasing IT equipment, funding fun and educational workshops led by visiting experts,  or contributing to the cost of new playground equipment.

Alongside this, the PTA also aims to help build and support the school community by organising a variety of social events.

All parents of children at the school and nursery are members of the PTA, but the events and activities are organised by a small committee – with, of course, a huge amount of help and support from staff and parents.

PTA Committee:

Chairperson: Maliha Carey

Secretary:  Dave Smallwood

Treasurer:  Sarah Crowther

President:  Katie Muir

Teacher Representative:  Caroline Matthews

Other Members:  Joanna Brynteson, Nicolette Dave, Tracey Salmon, Stephanie Reed, Mary Studley, Justine Berry and Hilary Barker.

The PTA team provides a wide variety of events and fundraising activities, aiming to provide something for everyone – from getting the children involved with activities such as sponsored Bounce-a-Thon, after-school discos, movie showings, pantomime performances to social events for mums and dads, such as quiz nights, race nights and wine tastings – not to mention the annual Fireworks event, Christmas Fayre and Summer Fete.

Joining the PTA team or helping out at events, is a great way to be involved in the life of the school and provides a good opportunity to get to know other parents and school staff better – and it's very satisfying to see how the children benefit from the money raised. If you would like to find out more about joining the committee or helping out, please do speak to any member of the current team or contact us via the PTA Postbox or email us on
