Meet the Governors

Our Governors are representatives of the parents, school staff and the local community. They meet every half term as a whole Governing Board.

The Governors are responsible for the overall policies of the school, making key appointments, monitoring the running of the school and having overall control of the budget.

Governors have a duty to regularly review the way in which the school is organised, monitor its achievements and to contribute to the development of the school. Governors work in partnership with the Head Teacher in every aspect of the school’s life.

Please see details of our Members of the Governing Board below:

Steven Marshall - Co-Opted Governor & Chair of Governors
Link Governor for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM)
Link Governor for Humanities Faculty Group
Link Governor for Health and Safety

My name is Steven, and I am one of the parent Governors at Wallace Fields Infant School. I'm passionate about my children's education and building an open and fun environment for them to start to learn and explore the world of learning. Knowing how many doors education can open, personally and professionally, I think the early years of formal education are of paramount importance to building engagement and an inquisitive mind.

I am an HR Director and have been lucky enough to try a variety of HR and Change Leadership roles across Financial Services for 15 years. Away from work, I have two children and, since their arrival, my entire outlook on life and work has changed. I am devoted to them. We spend as much time as possible together as a family, but when I do have any spare time I have a passion for gardening. I love cooking and walking / being in nature.

Gemma Casey - Co-Opted Governor & Deputy Chair of Governors
Link Governor for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Link Governor for English as Additional Language (EAL)
Link Governor for Pupil Premium

My name is Gemma, and I am one of the parent governors at Wallace Fields Infant School. My current role is Mixed-Use Estates Director at FTSE100 property company Landsec. I am responsible for the asset management of our mixed-use regeneration schemes which includes maintaining income and valuation of assets, preparing assets for development and creating a platform to manage successful mixed use properties in the future. I am part of the executive committee for Landsec U&I which is responsible for the business planning and execution for the business unit.

I have always had an interest in education and since having our three boys this has increased. I feel privileged to have had such a great opportunity within my career to develop myself and would like to help shape the future for others by using my training and experience to support the Wallace Fields Infant School Governing Board.

Roshan Watkins - Co-Opted Governor
Link Governor for Looked After Children (LAC) and Previously Looked After Children (PLAC)
Link Governor for Child Protection/Safeguarding
Link Governor for Attendance

My name is Roshie Watkins, and I am the proud parent of two children: a 25-year-old son who is studying for a Master's degree, is an elite rugby player and has dyslexia, and a 19-year-old daughter who is in her second year of a Law degree. As the parent of a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN), I have first-hand experience of the importance of timely and appropriate support in helping young people thrive and achieve their full potential.

Professionally, I have worked at Epsom College for the past 14 years as Community & Volunteering Manager. In this role, I established and continue to lead an award-winning outreach programme involving more than 400 pupils volunteering in the local community each week, including at Wallace Fields Infant School. The programme was recognised at the House of Lords as an example of successful partnership working between the independent and state school sectors. I also serve as Epsom College's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Community Support Officer, supporting initiatives that promote diversity, equity and inclusion across the school community.

I have been actively involved in school and community life for many years. Throughout my children's education, I was a committed PTA member, volunteered at sports clubs and supported numerous school events as a chaperone. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I also contributed to an online tutoring initiative, providing free Maths and English support to pupils in state schools.

I have a genuine passion for education, governance and creating environments in which all children can learn, develop and succeed. I firmly believe that every child, regardless of their background, abilities or circumstances, deserves the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Through my professional experience, safeguarding knowledge, commitment to inclusion and longstanding record of community service, I hope to make a positive contribution to the continued success of Wallace Fields Infant School and support its pupils, staff and wider community.

Catherine Doyle - Parent Governor

My name is Catherine, I'm passionate about education and excited to actively contribute to the school community in the role of parent governor. I'm committed to supporting Wallace Field Infant School's vision and helping maintain its high standards. I have worked for the English Language Learning division of Pearson Education for around 17 years, gaining diverse experience including test development, programme management and efficacy.  In my current role I lead a small team that acts as a centre of expertise in English-as-a-Foreign-Language pedagogy.  We develop educational frameworks and tools, offer subject-matter-expertise, and manage research projects aimed at demonstrating the impact of our EFL products. In my spare time I enjoy reading, travelling, and spending time with my family.

Rachel Vohra – Clerk to Local Governing Board

With over 25 years of experience in administration, I’ve built a career around organisation, efficiency, and attention to detail. I started as a team secretary and worked my way up to Executive Assistant to the European HR Director of a global advertising agency, supporting senior leadership in a fast-paced environment. Since having my daughter, I’ve taken on roles as an Office Manager and Finance Administrator, broadening my skills in operations and finance. In my current role as an Administrative Officer at Wallace Fields Infant School & Nursery, I juggle a wide range of responsibilities, including admissions, attendance, wraparound care, clubs, trips, first aid, medical, DBS checks, and much more. This mix of experience means I’m used to keeping things running smoothly, staying on top of important details, and ensuring everything is well-documented—key skills for a Clerk to the Governing Body. With my background in administration and my ability to manage multiple priorities, I am well-placed to support the governing body in making effective decisions and keeping everything on track.
