E-Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Wallace Fields Infant School and Nursery.

We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored both internally and externally, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any E-Safety incidents are recorded and managed in accordance with our E-Safety Policy which you can read below.

E-Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online. At Wallace Fields Infant School and Nursery all children have their own login to Purple Mash, an online space full of curriculum focused activities, creative tools, programs and games to support and inspire creative learning every day. Purple Mash is used by teachers to teach the Computing curriculum and E-Safety is woven through these lessons. Do also look out for activities on Safer Internet Day!

Our Pupil Parliament also worked together to create some E-safety rules for our school. These are displayed in every classroom. 

We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents to ensure the E-Safety message is consistent.  It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.

It’s essential to be realistic - banning the internet or technology often doesn’t work and it often makes a child less likely to report a problem. Education around safe use is essential.

Net Aware is a great website to find out more information about apps available to children. It gives you a summary of the purpose of the app, its age restrictions and an expert view of the risks.  https://www.net-aware.org.uk/
